The Department of Philosophy promotes and coordinates research activities concerning critical, methodological and foundational issues. It operates in several areas and aims at keeping alive the theoretical debate between researchers engaged in philosophical investigation and those working in the sciences.

September 15, 2023: BRIO x Alkemy bias detection software release

The BRIO – Bias, Risk and Opacity in AI project presents the innovative tool capable of detecting possible bias in Machine Learning models, developed in collaboration with Alkemy. The software is opensource. You can try the tool or contribute to its development yourself and you can look a preview of the functionality, watch our YouTube video.

New inter-university course in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence

Starting next A.Y. 2023-2024, the Universities of Milan, University of Milano-Bicocca and University of Pavia will launch an inter-university course in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, with a highly innovative and international character, delivered entirely in English. The goal is to train individuals with the interdisciplinary skills necessary to integrate artificial intelligence applications into the human context in which they are used. The course is aimed at highly motivated graduates from both STEM and Humanities, Neuroscience and Law areas, with a good aptitude for interdisciplinary studies, as well as professionals and employees of public or private companies, who want to retrain (from the perspective of life-long learning) to update their skills in the face of the growing demand for innovation.

Excellence Department Award 2023-2027

The Department of Philosophy "Pietro Martinetti" has been awarded, for the second time, an Excellence Grant by the Ministry of Education, Research and University for the period 2023-2027.
