2016-2017: II Semestre: Logics for Practical Reasoning - Measures on fuzzy events

Doctoral School in Philosophy and Human Sciences

Academic Year 2016-2017

COURSE DENOMINATION:

Logics for Practical Reasoning -- Measures on fuzzy events

Lecturer: Hykel Hosni - Associate Professor of Logic - Department of Philosophy
University of Milan

The aim of the course is to give an overview of the logical treatment of several generalizations of main classes of measures of uncertainty over classical and fuzzy events. In particular, we will show how it is possible to represent and logically formalize reasoning about classes of measures such as probabilities, plausibility, possibilities and necessities over several classes of many-valued events. Fuzzy logics provide a powerful framework to handle and combine fuzziness and uncertainty.
