Workshop on Peirce's Late Manuscripts.
19-20 December 2019, h. 16:00-18:00
Room Enzo Paci, Directorate of the Department of Philosophy, Universita' degli Studi di Milano, Via Festa del Perdono 7, Milan.
The workshop will address some Peirce manuscripts of the five-year period 1907-1911 (mostly unpublished), in order to elaborate a comprehensive understanding of Peirce’s late thought. Pointing to Peirce’s project of constructing a scientific metaphysicis, it will be studied a web of dense clusters around (I) pragmaticism proofs, (II) rationales of thought, and (III) existential graphs. The workshop will focus both on the content and the form of the manuscripts and will try to elaborate two hypotheses, to be discussed and contrasted in the meetings: a) Peirce’s synthetic thought entangles indissolubly logic, pragmaticism, and metaphysics; b) Peirce’s synthetic thought can be traced in the very iterative and serial form of the extant manuscript.
Prof. Zalamea is Senior Visiting Fellow of our Department.
Participation is strongly recommended to students of the Doctoral School in Philosophy and Human Sciences.
Everyone interested is welcome to attend.
